Bangalore Crime News: Computer science graduate who stole 133 laptops, 19 phones and four tablets lands in police net | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda on Tuesday announced the arrest of a computer science graduate on charges of stealing a total of 133 laptops, 19 mobile phones, and four tablets valued at Rs 75 lakh from paying guest accommodations used by IT employees in the city.
The accused, who had previously been employed at an IT company, had a habit of visiting paying guest and bachelor accommodations to pilfer laptops and mobile phones.
Additionally, two accomplices who were involved in receiving these stolen electronic devices from the main suspect and selling them in the market were also apprehended.
“All three individuals have been taken into custody and are currently in judicial custody. We have identified nearly eight cases within the central division related to these thefts. Furthermore, we are conducting investigations in other police stations to ascertain the full extent of his criminal activities,” Dayananda reported.
He also disclosed that the Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru had successfully dismantled a major betting operation by conducting raids at 11 different locations and arresting 13 individuals involved in illegal betting activities.
In connection with these operations, the police have registered 11 cases, and they have managed to seize over Rs 10 lakh in illicit funds from the suspects.
